Jean-Michel holds a master’s degree in law from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and various diplomas and postgraduate courses in corporate law, OHADA law and law & technology.
His practice focuses on corporate law in its entirety, and he has specific and widely-appreciated expertise in transaction structuring and private equity. He has also developed extensive transactional experience across Central and West Africa. He also practices OHADA law in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where he assists start-ups and international companies at all key stages of their development.
Jean-Michel joined SIA in May 2023 as a partner. In 2022, with Maguy Banthi, they opened the Africa office of SIA avocats.
He is fluently trilingual (Dutch, French and English). He is fluent in Lingala and has a good knowledge of German.
